So the start of the book....well it's cringe. The main characters reactions...just...don't feel right to what they are told.Possible light spoilers below.For example, their SON has epilepsy and needs medication to prevent seizures. Yet the family just...doesn't bring it up....at all. They are told they are being sent to another world, which probably doesn't have the medication, and the mother and father and grandfather don't even think to bring it up. When it is finally brought up among the parents the father just says some lame line about how "his son will find a way". So....worst parents ever? Maybe.In fact. Literally not a single character in this story cares for anyone not in their line of sight. It's like everyone is a goldfish. Parents never seem to worry about the kids who are transported alone in a forrest with monsters save for a single time when they check the tome and see their son is in mortal danger....and thats it. Oh wait the sister did once think a single sentence at the end of a chapter about the brothers safety when the system tells her her brother earned the "run for you life skill".Now looking past the emotionless goldfish characters the story is ok. I like the system that the book has and how the culture of the world has evolved around it. The idea of people treating you bad based on low levels because your are deemed lazy and a leech on society rather then bulies who attack people weaker because they can is a nice change of pace.We are introduced to some of the powers of this world, apparently some are older then the universe and are related to....seizures and....time? Possibilities? It's definitely an interesting power set I suppose.Personally the sister, brother, and turkey where my favorite chapters.The brother because the mystery of his class and abilities, the sister because it's funny how her love of nature backfires, and the turkey is freaking awsome. Turkey kinda gives me a boxy vibe from everyone loves large chests and I expect it to be a over powered inelegant demi turkey or something at some point.ALL IN ALL I give 3 stars. If I see the 2nd book recommended to me I'd get it, but I am not going to check for it's release. I really liked the beginning and I was incredibly interested in how the story would progress, unfortunately the multiple character perspectives almost made me drop it. I really dislike stories with multiple perspectives, in almost all my experiences I have found myself only caring about one or two characters which makes the rest of the book a slog to read. Additionally, multiple perspectives tends to kill almost all forward momentum. Fortunately, I found that both issues didn’t apply here, I was generally interested in all the of the characters and each of their individual stories are compelling in completely different ways. I found the story engaging and after getting over my predispositions I couldn’t put the book down. I’m greatly looking forward to the next installment!
